DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU Women's Cross Country team came out of Waco, Texas with a fourth straight second place finish to open their season. Junior Holly Archer earned an individual fifth place with a final time of 14:05.5.
A group of freshman solidified SMU's spot with Cassidy Webber finishing ninth at 14:22.2, freshman Anneke Grogan coming in 15th with a 14:36.0 finishing time, Rakel Barrientos finishing 20th with a time of 14:48.9 and Robin Montemayor ending up 36th at 15:18.0. Junior Justine Anthony and sophomore Rebekah Bosler came in 23rd and 24th respectively finishing just 3.1 seconds apart with Anthony at 14:59.2 and Bosler at 15:02.3.
Host, Baylor took the top spot, finishing 29 points better than the Mustangs at the Bear Twilight Invitational led by the first place finish by Maggie Montoya and the fourth place finish by Peyton Thomas.
The Mustangs will have a week and a half off to get ready for the North Texas Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 8 a.m. CT.
