GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS (SMU) - The SMU Women's Cross Country team won the UT-Arlington hosted Gerald Richey Invitational at the Lynn Creek Park Regional Course. Senior Karoline Skatteboe won the 5K race with a time of 17:20.9, finishing 12.8 seconds faster than junior Holly Archer's second place time of 17:33.7.
The remaining scored runners for the Mustangs all finished in the top 11 individually with freshmen Anneke Grogan (18:06.4, 4th), Rakel Barrientos (18:29.8, 6th) and Cassidy Webber (18:31.7, 8th) continuing to run well along with junior Justine Anthony (18:30.7, 7th) and sophomore Rebekah Bosler (19:01.9, 11th) rounding out the SMU team score of 20.
That score was 24 points better than UTA and 54 points better than Baylor, who passed SMU in the South Central Regional Poll earlier this week. Skatteboe and Archer did not run in last week's meet at UNT with Skatteboe also missing the season opener at Baylor.
Other runners for the Mustangs were Robin Montemayor, Julie Vanderhout and Madison Pyle with Shanoah Souza and Claire Trotter running unattached for the third straight meet. The unattached runners are scored just as individuals and only the first seven finishers for the team factor into the team scoring so Montemayor, Vanderhout and Pyle were scored just as individuals as well.
