The No. 6 SMU equestrian team will host its first home meet of the season Saturday against No. 9 Oklahoma State at its new home, the Dallas Equestrian Center. The competition is set to begin at 11 a.m. Live stats can be found on SMUMustangs.com.
ABOUT SMU: The Mustangs are 1-0 after a season-opening, 9-8, victory at then-No. 3 TCU. After the win, SMU moved up to No. 6 in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) poll, climbing one spot from the preseason poll. The No. 6 ranking matches last season's high, and is one spot from matching the highest ranking in program history. Senior
Sylvia de Toledo and sophomore
Nora Gray return to the hunt seat arena for SMU after picking up Honorable-Mention All-America status a year ago. de Toledo earned honorable mentions in both Equitation Over Fences and Equitation on the Flat, while Gray earned over fences accolades. SMU signed eight riders this off-season, four hunt seat riders and four western riders.

Madison Steed look to continue their success in the arena after leading the Mustangs in 2015-16 with nine wins apiece.
SCOUTING OKLAHOMA STATE: The Cowgirls are 1-0 after an 11-8 victory at Delaware State. Oklahoma State is coming off an 8-6 season, where it captured the 2016 Big 12 Championship and made a quarterfinals appearance at the NCEA Championships. The Cowgirls bring back several key riders including seniors Jorden Davis and Ebba Lange, who were both named NCEA All-Americans last year. Junior Carly Barrick also returns as an All-Big 12 rider in Equitation over Fences. Other key returners include reiners, Danielle Cohen and Julia Purus. Cohen finished with a 10-8-3 record, while Purus, held a 9-4-1 record. The Cowgirls added 17 new riders to the roster for the 2016-17 season.
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE COWGIRLS: OSU holds an 8-1 all-time advantage over the Mustangs. The last meeting between the two came last season in Stillwater, Okla., where the then-No. 6 Cowgirls won, 13-6. HOME SWEET HOME: The SMU equestrian team has moved to the Dallas Equestrian Center (DEC), which will serve as its official stables and training facility. The DEC, which was formally known as Park Lane Stables, resides on 10 acres in the heart of Dallas and is 3.5 miles from the SMU campus. The facility features three indoor arenas with new footings, two new outdoor arenas, and 20 new state-of-the-art paddocks with cover. Renovation plans include upgrades to a tack room and the addition of a club house with locker rooms and coaches' offices. In addition, a 10 horse European horse walker will be added to the facility. UP NEXT: The Mustangs will host their first meet at Dallas Equestrian Center, as Oklahoma State comes to town Saturday, Oct. 15. Last season, SMU fell to the Cowgirls, 13-6. In nine meetings all-time, Oklahoma State leads the series 8-1.
