AUSTIN, Texas (SMU) – Senior Lindsey McCurdy and freshman Kenzie Wright are both in the top three on the individual leaderboard after two rounds at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational hosted by Texas at the UT Golf Club in Austin. The 20th-ranked SMU women's golf team currently sits in sixth place after 36 holes.

McCurdy and Wright are tied for third in the 75-player field after firing 2-under 142 on day one of the event.

McCurdy registered rounds of 73 and 69, making this the second time in just three events the senior has posted a round in the 60s, a task she accomplished three times as a junior.

Wright's second-round 67 is just one shy of her collegiate-best 66, which she fired during the Mustangs' last outing at the Mason Rudolph Championship. The round has her tied for fourth on SMU's low round versus par list and tied for fifth on the low round list. Both records date back to the 1993-94 season.

SMU's two-round 17-over 593 trails Golfstat top 15 teams Miami (No. 9), Kent State (No. 14) and Texas (No. 15) in order, while UNLV is fourth and No. 30 Baylor is fifth. The Mustangs' second-round 289 was the second lowest total behind Miami's 3-under 285 for that frame.

The Ponies finished behind only Miami and Kent State with 29 birdies over 36 holes, including nine apiece from McCurdy and Wright, placing them third on the individual list.                                                                                                                

Dewi Weber of Miami sits alone at the top of the individual leaderboard with a two-round 15-under 129. Michaela Finn of Kent State is second at 5-under 139.

Other notable teams competing include American Athletic Conference opponents Tulane and Tulsa who are eighth and 11th, respectively.

The Mustangs play the third round of the Betsy Rawls Invite Tuesday. SMU is paired with UNLV and Baylor for the final round and tees off at 8:45 a.m. CT. Visit birdiefire.com for live results.
