The championships start with the women's 6K race at 10:00 a.m. ET/9 a.m. CT, and will be followed by the men's 8K race at 10:50 a.m. ET/9:50 a.m. CT. The awards ceremony will begin at approximately 11:40 a.m. ET/10:40 a.m. CT. The women's and men's race will be streamed live on the American Digital Network.
After a runner-up finish at the conference meet last year, the Mustangs will be seeking their fourth league title in the past six years and sixth in the past nine years.
SMU is ranked No. 30 in the latest U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Coaches' Poll and third in the USTFCCA South Central Regional Poll. The Mustangs will face four regionally ranked teams from the conference, including Tulsa (sixth – Midwest), Tulane (ninth – South Central), Memphis (10th – South) and Houston (12th – South Central).
Head Coach Cathy Casey is looking forward to seeing where the Mustangs stack up against the rest of the conference.
"We are focused and looking forward to the conference championship," Casey said. Â "We have run well up to this point but now we have to execute on race day in order to accomplish one of our goals."
