PROVIDENCE, R.I. (SMU) – Freshman
Mary Meehan was named to the American Athletic Conference weekly honor roll, the conference announced Monday. The Southlake, Texas, native won the honor after recording the game-winning goal and the game-tying assist at UCF.
Tied 1-1 with under 10 minutes in regulation, Meehan scored the eventual game-winner in the 81st minute, tapping in a cross from
Vanessa Valadez. The goal was Meehan's first collegiate goal.
Earlier in the game, Meehan notched her second career assist, curling a corner kick into the box, where fellow freshman
Katharine Herron netted a header.
Meehan has played in all 11 games, logging 414 minutes. During the Florida road trip, she clocked 80 minutes between the two games.
SMU is 8-3-0 overall, 2-0-0 in AAC action, and is top five in six NCAA statistical categories. SMU leads the country in scoring offense, is second in total points and points per game, third in total goals and assists per game and fourth in total assists.
SMU is next in action Thursday when it hosts No. 21 Connecticut at Westcott Field. The match is set for 7 p.m. CT.
