DALLAS (SMU) –
Mary Wright and
Dasha Sharapova claimed the No. 1 doubles title Sunday with a 7-5 victory against teammates
Ana Perez-Lopez and
Sarai Monarrez Yesaki on day three of the SMU Invite. The Mustangs picked up four victories on the day with a 2-1 record in doubles, while registering two wins in singles.
Macie Elliott and
Charline Anselmo each picked up victories in singles play to close out the weekend. Elliott defeated Lina Hallgren of UTSA, 6-7, 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 6 consolation final, while Anselmo won the No. 5 consolation final with a 6-2, 7-5 against Alex Bourguignon of Gonzaga.
Elliott also teamed up with
Ellie Zogg to defeat Fabienne Gettwart and Carrie Casey of Sam Houston State in the No. 2 third place bracket.
