Final Results
HOUSTON (SMU) – With play limited due to thunderstorms in the area, the SMU women's tennis team won its only singles match, while falling in a pair of doubles matches to close out day three of the Rice Invitational Sunday at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
Sophomore
Ana Perez-Lopez recorded her second victory of the tournament with a 6-2, 6-1 victory against Chelsea Crovetti of Texas. Perez-Lopez and freshman
Charline Anselmo dropped a 6-3 decision to Sofia Kurtz and Christina Sisti of Tulane in doubles action.
Senior
Macie Elliott and freshman
Sara Jamal advanced to the consolation finals after defeating Yadira Rubio (Texas State) and Caitlyn Mitchell (Sam Houston State) Saturday, 6-0. However, Elliott and Jamal fell 6-4 to Ema Barkovic and Diane Freidrichs of Sam Houston State.
Inclement weather suspended singles play for sophomore
Ellie Zogg, Anselmo, Elliott and Jamal. The Mustangs had a 4-7 record in singles play and 2-4 record in doubles during the tournament.
