2016 Gerald Richey Invitational (PDF)
DALLAS (SMU) – After an impressive showing at the Bear Twilight Invitational, the SMU women's cross country team heads to Lynn Creek Park Saturday, Sept. 10 in Grand Prairie, Texas, for the Gerald Richey Invitational, hosted by UT Arlington.
The Mustangs will face a field of all Texas teams in a 5-kilometer race that is set to begin at 8 a.m. SMU has won the event the past five years.
Last year, SMU went 1-2 to help secure the team title with
Karoline Skatteboe winning the 5k race with a time of 17 minutes, 12.8 seconds, while
Holly Archer placed second with a time of 17:33.7. The Mustangs other five runners placed in the top 11 with
Anneke Grogan (18:06.4) finishing fourth, while
Rakel Barrientos (18:29.8),
Justine Anthony (18:30.7) and
Cassidy Webber (18:31.7) placed sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively.
Rebekah Bosler finished 11th with a time of 19:01.9.

Charlotte-Tara Murphy led a trio of Mustangs last week in Waco as she finished the 4K course third with a time of 13:53.9. Archer placed fourth in a personal-best time of 13:54.1, while freshmanÂ
Hannah Miller finished fifth in her first collegiate race in a time of 13:58.6. Barrientos also ran a personal-best time of 14:12.2 as she finished eighth, while Anthony placed ninth (14:21.2).
The Gerald Richey Invitational is the second of eight meets on SMU's 2016 schedule. The Mustangs will remain in Texas to compete at the Ken Garland Invitational at North Texas Saturday, Sept. 17.
