DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU men's and women's swimming and diving programs host LSU Friday at 7 p.m. at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium. The event serves as the facility opener for the "Nat" and marks the first time the programs have hosted a competition on the SMU campus since spring of 2014.

The Mustang men are coming off a 184-114 victory over TCU on Oct. 25, while the women fell to Rice their last time out. Both programs are facing LSU for the first time since a Nov. 7, 2015 meeting in Baton Rouge.

LSU's men are 1-2 to open the season with a victory over Loyola (N.O.) and losses to Virginia and Pittsburgh. The women are 2-2 having defeated Loyola (N.O.) and Tulane, while also falling to Virginia and Pittsburgh.

The Mustangs have earned a combined four American Athletic Conference Swimmer and Diver of the Week honors on the young season, as Matea Samardzic earned back-to-back honors for the women and Bryce Klein and Jonathan Gomez swept this week's honors on the men's side. Samardzic has also posted four NCAA B standards this season, while Bryce Klein has picked up NCAA Zone qualifying scores on both springboards.

BACK ON THE HILLTOP
Building on a legacy of proud Olympians, world records and 155 national titles, SMU broke ground on the new Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium on Friday, Feb. 26, 2016. The 42,000 square foot center will be home to SMU's internationally-recognized men's and women's swimming and diving teams. Located at 5550 SMU Blvd. on the University's growing east campus, the center will provide facilities for practice, competition and community use. The Aquatics Center will feature an Olympic-sized, eight-lane indoor pool with a platform diving area, including four springboards and a 10-meter tower for training and competition. Coaches' offices, men's, women's and visitor locker rooms and a classroom and meeting area will be located adjacent to the pool. Spectator seating for 800 will be on the mezzanine level.
