Sitz Collects Silver Medal On 3-Meter Springboard At NCAA Championships

DAY THREE RESULTS

ATLANTA (SMU) –
SMU diver Luke Sitz finished second on 3-meter at the 2026 NCAA DI Swimming & Diving Championships on Thursday in Atlanta, Georgia, earning First-Team All-America honors and breaking the program record twice in one day.

In the finals, Sitz recorded a mark of 495.30, the highest score in SMU history. The sophomore improves upon his previous personal best of 442.20, which he set in the preliminary round earlier today. At the 2025 NCAA DI Men's Swimming & Diving Championships, a then-freshman Sitz put up a score of 355.85 to finish 17th.

Tonight's performance was an astounding 139.45 points higher than the year prior. The All-American's score was catapulted by his 307C, a Reverse 3 1/2 Somersault Tuck, that earned him a 92.75.

Sitz adds this accolade to an already successful trip to his second NCAA Championships. On 1-meter, he took home his first-ever national championship in the event after throwing down a score of 428.10. The diver nabbed the Mustangs' first NCAA Championship in over a decade, with golfer Bryson DeChambeau earning a title back in 2015. The last time a Mustang earned an NCAA title in diving was in 1990, when Scott Donie earned gold on 3-meter and on platform.

Freshman Grant Cates finished 21st on 3-meter, scoring a 355.50. Junior Jack Berube competed in his first event at the NCAA Championships, swimming in the 100 back. The Texas native beat his previous school record by 0.01, throwing down a time of 45.73. Berube tied for 34th overall.
