The [RV/RV] SMU Mustangs (7-2) visit Metroplex rival [20/20] TCU (8-0) on Tuesday at 8 p.m. This is the first time since 2012-13 the Mustangs will play on campus at TCU. This is SMU's first true road game of the season. The Mustangs have played six home games and three in the Bahamas at the Battle 4 Atlantis. SMU went 8-3 on the road last season, winning the final six road games.
This is SMU's third game against a ranked opponent this season. SMU faced then-No. 2/4 Arizona on Nov. 24 (W, 66-60) and hosted then-No. 14/18 USC on Saturday (W, 72-55).
The Mustangs improved to 7-2 on the season with a 72-55 win against then-No. 14/18 USC on Saturday. The Mustangs have won 28 straight games at Moody Coliseum, the second-longest active streak nationally. SMU is 31-0 under Tim Jankovich at Moody Coliseum, the second-best home start by a head coach in NCAA history.
Junior guard Shake Milton was named The American Player of the Week. Milton averaged 22.0 points, 6.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds in wins against UTRGV and then-No. 14/18 USC to earn his second AAC Player of the Week Award this season.
At the Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas, the Mustangs fell 61-58 to Northern Iowa in the opener, defeated then-No. 2 Arizona 66-60 on day two and lost 63-61 in the third game to Western Kentucky on a three in the final five seconds. The loss to Northern Iowa snapped a 17-game regular season winning streak. The win over AP No. 2 Arizona was the highest for the Mustangs since an 83-81 win over No. 2 Louisville in the 1967 NCAA Midwest Regional Semifinal.
The Mustangs lead The American in scoring defense at 56.3 (3rd NCAA). SMU has not allowed more than 67 points in a game this season. The Mustangs also lead the AAC with a +4.4 turnover margin (33rd NCAA), 41.8 percent shooting from three (25th NCAA) and a 1.5 assist-to-turnover ratio (17th NCAA).
The Mustangs have five players averaging at least 9.0 points with Shake Milton leading the team at 18.7 (5th AAC). Jarrey Foster averages 14.7 (12th AAC), Ethan Chargois at 11.8 (28th AAC), Ben Emelogu 10.6 and Jimmy Whitt at 9.7. Emelogu is leading the AAC in 3-point percentage at 57.5 on 23-40 (5th NCAA). SMU has five guys averaging at least 4.5 rebounds with Emelogu leading the Mustangs at 6.2 per game followed by Foster at 5.7, Whitt 5.4, Chargois 5.2 and Milton 4.6 per game. Whitt leads the AAC at 4.8 assists per game with Milton 5th in the AAC at 4.0 per game.
LAST GAME (W, 72-55 vs No. 14/18 USC on Dec. 2): DALLAS (SMU) - In Moody Coliseum, things are just different. In a rematch from the season-ending matchup in the NCAA Tournament, this time there was no USC comeback to speak of. The Mustangs dominated No. 14 USC in the second half on their way to a 72-55 victory and the 28-straight win at home.
"If every game was that fun, I'd want to coach forever," head coach Tim Jankovich said. "I'm really proud of our guys. It was an incredible effort. What a second half. I don't know if we've played that well in a big game for a half against a team like that."
It was an emotional rematch for SMU as a team, but especially for the three returning Mustangs from last season. The three played liked it.
Junior Shake Milton was the catalyst for the Mustangs' offense, leading all scorers with 22 points while also dishing out a game-high nine assists. Senior Ben Emelogu II was also huge for the Mustangs throughout the game, hitting big shot after big shot. Emelogu II finished 4-for-5 from behind the arc and consistently provided a spark when it was needed. Junior Jarrey Foster provided 13 points and was huge on the defensive end, holding USC star Bennie Boatwright to just eight points.
"In Moody, we don't lose," Foster said. "Anytime a team comes in here, we're going to find a way to win and do whatever it takes. This was a big game for us."
The Trojans were able to hurt SMU early on with fast break points, racking up 13 of them in the first half. USC finished the game with 13 fast break points as SMU held the Trojans to their lowest point total of the season.
USC entered the game as one of the best teams in the nation in limiting turnovers and taking care of the basketball. SMU's defense bothered the Trojans all night, leading to a season-high turnover total.
Given the competition, the Mustangs put together its best offensive performance as a team this season. SMU shot above 50 percent while tallying 16 assists on 27 baskets. The Mustangs shot 50 percent from 3-point range and only turned the ball over 11 times.
UP NEXT: The Mustangs play five straight at Moody Coliseum. SMU hosts New Orleans Dec. 13, Boise State Dec. 18 and Cal Poly Dec. 19 before opening AAC play versus UCF on Dec. 27 and USF on Dec. 31.
THE SERIES VS. TCU (106-85 on court, 105-85 official +): This is the 192nd meeting between the two schools with SMU holding a 106-85 advantage. SMU is 61-30 against TCU at home. In the last game played at SMU, the Mustangs posted a 74-59 victory on Dec. 7, 2016. The previous game at SMU was on Feb. 8, 2012, where the Mustangs came out victorious, 68-62. In Fort Worth, TCU holds a 51-42 all-time advantage. SMU claimed the last road contest, 75-70, on Dec. 2, 2015, which was played at the Wilkerson Greines Athletic Center. The series dates back to the 1918-19 season with SMU winning the first matchup 30-19 in Dallas and then falling 35-32 in Fort Worth. The rivals were members of the Southwest Conference from 1918-1996 with SMU going 84-64 in league games. The duo then moved to the Western Athletic Conference with TCU going 9-1 against SMU in league play from 1996-2001. (+105-85; win in 2013-14 later vacated)
LAST MEETING VS. TCU (W, 74-59 at SMU on Dec. 7, 2016): DALLAS (AP) -- SMU protected the ball and had a season-low five turnovers in a 74-59 win against TCU. That was an area of concern for SMU entering the game after TCU had forced opponents into 151 turnovers in its first eight games. Semi Ojeleye scored 23 points and Shake Milton added 17 points to lead SMU. The Horned Frogs, who lost for the first time this season, led 3-1 a minute into the game before SMU went on an eight-point run in the next two minutes and led the rest of the way. The Mustangs are 6-0 at home. SMU shot 44 percent from the field, including 13-of-24 shooting in the second half, and outscored TCU 28-20 in the paint. TCU made six of 22 3-pointers. Jaylen Fisher scored 10 points, and Kenrich Williams had eight points and 13 rebounds for the Horned Frogs. Vladimir Brodziansky and Alex Robinson added 12 points apiece off the bench.

HEAD COACH TIM JANKOVICH... is in his second season at the helm at SMU after four seasons as the associate head coach. He is in his 35th season as a collegiate coach, and his 13th as a head coach. In 2016-17, SMU finished 30-5 and No. 11 in the AP poll after winning The American regular season and tournament titles en route to the NCAA Tournament. In 2015-16, he coached the Mustangs to a 9-0 start as SMU was eventually the last unbeaten team in the country at 18-0, and winning the Las Vegas Classic title during the season-opening streak. The Mustangs went 25-5, finishing the season ranked No. 24 after reaching a high of No. 8. In 2014-15, the Mustangs claimed the AAC regular season and tournament championships en route to the NCAA Tournament. SMU was the top seed in the 2014 NIT, reaching the title game. This is his 11th season as the leader of a Division I program, including five as head coach at Illinois State (2007-12) and four at North Texas (1993-97). As a head coach, he is 203-128 (.613) [46-7 at SMU (.868), including 31-0 at Moody Coliseum].

ROAD WARRIORS: The Mustangs are 24-11 on the road since the start of the 2014-15 season with a 33-16 mark away from Moody Coliseum (9-5 neutral site). Milton was also named the 2017-18 preseason American Athletic Conference Player of the Year. He also competed at the 2016 and 2017 Nike Hoops Summit in Los Angeles.
AWARDS - AAC WEEKLY HONORS: Shake Milton has been named AAC Player of the week twice. The first was Nov. 13 when he averaged 26.0 points, including a career-high 28 points (7-18 FG, 4-12 3FG, 10-10 FT), with three rebounds and two steals to in a 78-67 win over UMBC. He took his second honor on Dec. 4 when he averaged 22.0 points, 6.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds in wins against UTRGV and then-No. 14/18 USC. Ethan Chargois was the Rookie of the Week on Nov. 13 as the Mustangs swept the awards. He averaged 19.0 points and 8.5 rebounds against UMBC and ULM.

BEST WIN STREAKS/START(S) IN PROGRAM HISTORY: SMU had winning streaks of 16 games and 10 games in 2016-17 in a stretch where the Mustangs won 26 of 27. In 2015-16, SMU started 18-0, which was the best start in program history, surpassing the 10-0 start by the 1997-98 team (Tim Jankovich directed the first nine games of the 18-game streak). The 18-game winning streak was the second-longest streak in program history (20 during 1955-56). CANADA - 2017 SUMMER TOUR: The team had an eight-day trip to Canada from August 7-14. The journey to Montreal and Toronto included three games (3-0) as well as visits to historic sites in both cities and an excursion to Niagara Falls. The trip started in Montreal, where the Mustangs played McGill University (W, 86-83 OT). The team also visited Mount Royal Park and St. Joseph's Oratory, Old Montreal historic district and took a boat ride in the rapids on the Saint Lawrence River. Then in Toronto, the Mustangs played a pair of exhibition games versus Ryerson University (W, 98-86) and M.A.D.E., the Nike Crown League Champion (W, 79-62). The team also went to the the CN Tower and to the Rogers Centre for batting practice and the game between the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees. The day between games in Toronto, the group took a trip to Niagara Falls.

NON-CONFERENCE REGULAR SEASON UNDER JANKOVICH: SMU is 26-5 in regular-season non-conference games under Jankovich. SMU was 10-3 in non-conference action in 2016-17 after going 12-0 in non-conference play in 2015-16, including winning the Las Vegas Classic. The Mustangs have lost just eight non-conference regular season contests since the start of the 2013-14 season, only one of those losses was at home (then No. 25 Arkansas 78-72 on 11/24/14).
NBA - DRAFT: SMU's Semi Ojeleye and Sterling Brown were selected in the 2017 NBA Draft. Ojeleye was selected 37th overall by the Boston Celtics and Brown was picked 46th overall by the Philadelphia 76ers (traded to Milwaukee). This is the fourth time the Mustangs have had multiple picks in the NBA Draft, but the first time with multiple selections in the first two rounds. Ben Moore signed as a free agent by Indiana.

TOP 25: SMU is receiving votes in the AP Top 25 and the USA Today Coaches Poll. The Mustangs were receiving votes in the preseason Associated Press Top 25 and the USA Today Coaches Poll. SMU finished 2016-17 No. 11 in the AP Poll and No. 23 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. SMU was in the AP top 25 for the final six weeks (after 4 weeks of receiving votes) and the final six coaches polls (after five straight weeks receiving votes). The Mustangs also received votes in the first two weeks of the season. In 2015-16, SMU finished 24th in the AP Poll, its 17th straight poll in the top 25. That is the third-longest streak at SMU and the second-highest total in a season for the Mustangs. It was the third straight season SMU has been ranked in the top 25. TROPHY CASE: Since the start of the 2013-14 season, the Mustangs have added six items to the trophy case after adding the 2016-17 American Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles. The [RV/RV] SMU Mustangs (7-2) visit Metroplex rival [20/20] TCU (8-0) on Tuesday at 8 p.m. This is the first time since 2012-13 the Mustangs will play on campus at TCU. This is SMU's first true road game of the season. The Mustangs have played six home games and three in the Bahamas at the Battle 4 Atlantis. SMU went 8-3 on the road last season, winning the final six road games.
This is SMU's third game against a ranked opponent this season. SMU faced then-No. 2/4 Arizona on Nov. 24 (W, 66-60) and hosted then-No. 14/18 USC on Saturday (W, 72-55).
The Mustangs improved to 7-2 on the season with a 72-55 win against then-No. 14/18 USC on Saturday. The Mustangs have won 28 straight games at Moody Coliseum, the second-longest active streak nationally. SMU is 31-0 under Tim Jankovich at Moody Coliseum, the second-best home start by a head coach in NCAA history.
Junior guard Shake Milton was named The American Player of the Week. Milton averaged 22.0 points, 6.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds in wins against UTRGV and then-No. 14/18 USC to earn his second AAC Player of the Week Award this season.
At the Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas, the Mustangs fell 61-58 to Northern Iowa in the opener, defeated then-No. 2 Arizona 66-60 on day two and lost 63-61 in the third game to Western Kentucky on a three in the final five seconds. The loss to Northern Iowa snapped a 17-game regular season winning streak. The win over AP No. 2 Arizona was the highest for the Mustangs since an 83-81 win over No. 2 Louisville in the 1967 NCAA Midwest Regional Semifinal.
The Mustangs lead The American in scoring defense at 56.3 (3rd NCAA). SMU has not allowed more than 67 points in a game this season. The Mustangs also lead the AAC with a +4.4 turnover margin (33rd NCAA), 41.8 percent shooting from three (25th NCAA) and a 1.5 assist-to-turnover ratio (17th NCAA).
The Mustangs have five players averaging at least 9.0 points with Shake Milton leading the team at 18.7 (5th AAC). Jarrey Foster averages 14.7 (12th AAC), Ethan Chargois at 11.8 (28th AAC), Ben Emelogu 10.6 and Jimmy Whitt at 9.7. Emelogu is leading the AAC in 3-point percentage at 57.5 on 23-40 (5th NCAA). SMU has five guys averaging at least 4.5 rebounds with Emelogu leading the Mustangs at 6.2 per game followed by Foster at 5.7, Whitt 5.4, Chargois 5.2 and Milton 4.6 per game. Whitt leads the AAC at 4.8 assists per game with Milton 5th in the AAC at 4.0 per game.
LAST GAME (W, 72-55 vs No. 14/18 USC on Dec. 2): DALLAS (SMU) - In Moody Coliseum, things are just different. In a rematch from the season-ending matchup in the NCAA Tournament, this time there was no USC comeback to speak of. The Mustangs dominated No. 14 USC in the second half on their way to a 72-55 victory and the 28-straight win at home.
"If every game was that fun, I'd want to coach forever," head coach Tim Jankovich said. "I'm really proud of our guys. It was an incredible effort. What a second half. I don't know if we've played that well in a big game for a half against a team like that."
It was an emotional rematch for SMU as a team, but especially for the three returning Mustangs from last season. The three played liked it.
Junior Shake Milton was the catalyst for the Mustangs' offense, leading all scorers with 22 points while also dishing out a game-high nine assists. Senior Ben Emelogu II was also huge for the Mustangs throughout the game, hitting big shot after big shot. Emelogu II finished 4-for-5 from behind the arc and consistently provided a spark when it was needed. Junior Jarrey Foster provided 13 points and was huge on the defensive end, holding USC star Bennie Boatwright to just eight points.
"In Moody, we don't lose," Foster said. "Anytime a team comes in here, we're going to find a way to win and do whatever it takes. This was a big game for us."
The Trojans were able to hurt SMU early on with fast break points, racking up 13 of them in the first half. USC finished the game with 13 fast break points as SMU held the Trojans to their lowest point total of the season.
USC entered the game as one of the best teams in the nation in limiting turnovers and taking care of the basketball. SMU's defense bothered the Trojans all night, leading to a season-high turnover total.
Given the competition, the Mustangs put together its best offensive performance as a team this season. SMU shot above 50 percent while tallying 16 assists on 27 baskets. The Mustangs shot 50 percent from 3-point range and only turned the ball over 11 times.
UP NEXT: The Mustangs play five straight at Moody Coliseum. SMU hosts New Orleans Dec. 13, Boise State Dec. 18 and Cal Poly Dec. 19 before opening AAC play versus UCF on Dec. 27 and USF on Dec. 31.
THE SERIES VS. TCU (106-85 on court, 105-85 official +): This is the 192nd meeting between the two schools with SMU holding a 106-85 advantage. SMU is 61-30 against TCU at home. In the last game played at SMU, the Mustangs posted a 74-59 victory on Dec. 7, 2016. The previous game at SMU was on Feb. 8, 2012, where the Mustangs came out victorious, 68-62. In Fort Worth, TCU holds a 51-42 all-time advantage. SMU claimed the last road contest, 75-70, on Dec. 2, 2015, which was played at the Wilkerson Greines Athletic Center. The series dates back to the 1918-19 season with SMU winning the first matchup 30-19 in Dallas and then falling 35-32 in Fort Worth. The rivals were members of the Southwest Conference from 1918-1996 with SMU going 84-64 in league games. The duo then moved to the Western Athletic Conference with TCU going 9-1 against SMU in league play from 1996-2001. (+105-85; win in 2013-14 later vacated)
LAST MEETING VS. TCU (W, 74-59 at SMU on Dec. 7, 2016): DALLAS (AP) -- SMU protected the ball and had a season-low five turnovers in a 74-59 win against TCU. That was an area of concern for SMU entering the game after TCU had forced opponents into 151 turnovers in its first eight games. Semi Ojeleye scored 23 points and Shake Milton added 17 points to lead SMU. The Horned Frogs, who lost for the first time this season, led 3-1 a minute into the game before SMU went on an eight-point run in the next two minutes and led the rest of the way. The Mustangs are 6-0 at home. SMU shot 44 percent from the field, including 13-of-24 shooting in the second half, and outscored TCU 28-20 in the paint. TCU made six of 22 3-pointers. Jaylen Fisher scored 10 points, and Kenrich Williams had eight points and 13 rebounds for the Horned Frogs. Vladimir Brodziansky and Alex Robinson added 12 points apiece off the bench.

HEAD COACH TIM JANKOVICH... is in his second season at the helm at SMU after four seasons as the associate head coach. He is in his 35th season as a collegiate coach, and his 13th as a head coach. In 2016-17, SMU finished 30-5 and No. 11 in the AP poll after winning The American regular season and tournament titles en route to the NCAA Tournament. In 2015-16, he coached the Mustangs to a 9-0 start as SMU was eventually the last unbeaten team in the country at 18-0, and winning the Las Vegas Classic title during the season-opening streak. The Mustangs went 25-5, finishing the season ranked No. 24 after reaching a high of No. 8. In 2014-15, the Mustangs claimed the AAC regular season and tournament championships en route to the NCAA Tournament. SMU was the top seed in the 2014 NIT, reaching the title game. This is his 11th season as the leader of a Division I program, including five as head coach at Illinois State (2007-12) and four at North Texas (1993-97). As a head coach, he is 203-128 (.613) [46-7 at SMU (.868), including 31-0 at Moody Coliseum].
That includes a 104-64 mark at ISU where his teams recorded four top-three finishes in the Missouri Valley, reached the conference tournament final three times and earned four NIT bids. As an assistant or head coach, his teams are 628-375 (.626) with six regular season conference championships, four league tournament titles, nine NCAA Tournament appearances and eight NIT bids.

ROAD WARRIORS: The Mustangs are 24-11 on the road since the start of the 2014-15 season with a 33-16 mark away from Moody Coliseum (9-5 neutral site). SMU is 20-7 in AAC road games in that stretch (7-2 in 2014-15; 5-4 in 2015-16; 8-1 in 2016-17). SMU was 7-4 on the road in 2015-16 after going 9-4 on the road in 2014-15. The nine road wins rank second in school history (10 in 1955-56). The Mustangs won seven straight road games, which was the longest streak since a program-record eight in 1955-56. AWARDS IN PRESEASON - BOB COUSY AWARD, LUTE OLSON AWARD, WOODEN AWARD & NAISMITH TROPHY WATCH LISTS/AAC PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Junior guard Shake Milton is one of 20 candidates named to the 2018 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award watch list by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, one of 40 on the Lute Olson National Player of the Year Watch List, one of 50 on the Citizen Naismith Trophy Watch List and a member of the Wooden Award Preseason Top 50. Milton was also named the 2017-18 preseason American Athletic Conference Player of the Year. He also competed at the 2016 and 2017 Nike Hoops Summit in Los Angeles.
AWARDS - AAC WEEKLY HONORS: Shake Milton has been named AAC Player of the week twice. The first was Nov. 13 when he averaged 26.0 points, including a career-high 28 points (7-18 FG, 4-12 3FG, 10-10 FT), with three rebounds and two steals to in a 78-67 win over UMBC. He took his second honor on Dec. 4 when he averaged 22.0 points, 6.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds in wins against UTRGV and then-No. 14/18 USC. Ethan Chargois was the Rookie of the Week on Nov. 13 as the Mustangs swept the awards. He averaged 19.0 points and 8.5 rebounds against UMBC and ULM.
3 TIMES THE CHARM: Shake Milton and Jarrey Foster are both among the program's best career 3-point shooters. Ben Emelogu II ranks leads the AAC this season at 54.3 percent from three (19-35).

BEST WIN STREAKS/START(S) IN PROGRAM HISTORY: SMU had winning streaks of 16 games and 10 games in 2016-17 in a stretch where the Mustangs won 26 of 27. In 2015-16, SMU started 18-0, which was the best start in program history, surpassing the 10-0 start by the 1997-98 team (Tim Jankovich directed the first nine games of the 18-game streak). The 18-game winning streak was the second-longest streak in program history (20 during 1955-56). The 7-0 start to the 2015-16 AAC schedule was the best league start since going 12-0 en route to the 1955-56 SWC title.

CANADA - 2017 SUMMER TOUR: The team had an eight-day trip to Canada from August 7-14. The journey to Montreal and Toronto included three games (3-0) as well as visits to historic sites in both cities and an excursion to Niagara Falls. The trip started in Montreal, where the Mustangs played McGill University (W, 86-83 OT). The team also visited Mount Royal Park and St. Joseph's Oratory, Old Montreal historic district and took a boat ride in the rapids on the Saint Lawrence River. Then in Toronto, the Mustangs played a pair of exhibition games versus Ryerson University (W, 98-86) and M.A.D.E., the Nike Crown League Champion (W, 79-62). The team also went to the the CN Tower and to the Rogers Centre for batting practice and the game between the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees. The day between games in Toronto, the group took a trip to Niagara Falls.

INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE FOR THE MUSTANGS (Current Roster): In the past few seasons, several Mustangs have played in international events or gone on international tours. NON-CONFERENCE REGULAR SEASON UNDER JANKOVICH: SMU is 26-5 in regular-season non-conference games under Jankovich. SMU was 10-3 in non-conference action in 2016-17 after going 12-0 in non-conference play in 2015-16, including winning the Las Vegas Classic. The Mustangs have lost just eight non-conference regular season contests since the start of the 2013-14 season, only one of those losses was at home (then No. 25 Arkansas 78-72 on 11/24/14).
NBA - DRAFT: SMU's Semi Ojeleye and Sterling Brown were selected in the 2017 NBA Draft. Ojeleye was selected 37th overall by the Boston Celtics and Brown was picked 46th overall by the Philadelphia 76ers (traded to Milwaukee). This is the fourth time the Mustangs have had multiple picks in the NBA Draft, but the first time with multiple selections in the first two rounds. Ben Moore signed as a free agent by Indiana.

TOP 25: SMU is receiving votes in the AP Top 25 and the USA Today Coaches Poll. The Mustangs were receiving votes in the preseason Associated Press Top 25 and the USA Today Coaches Poll. SMU finished 2016-17 No. 11 in the AP Poll and No. 23 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. SMU was in the AP top 25 for the final six weeks (after 4 weeks of receiving votes) and the final six coaches polls (after five straight weeks receiving votes). The Mustangs also received votes in the first two weeks of the season. In 2015-16, SMU finished 24th in the AP Poll, its 17th straight poll in the top 25. That is the third-longest streak at SMU and the second-highest total in a season for the Mustangs. It was the third straight season SMU has been ranked in the top 25. In 2014-15, SMU was in the top 25 for nine weeks including the final seven regular season polls. SMU finished No. 18 in the AP and receiving votes in the USA Today Coaches poll. TROPHY CASE: Since the start of the 2013-14 season, the Mustangs have added six items to the trophy case after adding the 2016-17 American Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles.
