DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU men's tennis team swept Prairie View A&M, 7-0, Saturday evening at the SMU Tennis Complex. The Mustangs picked up their third consecutive win and the sixth of the season, while the Panthers fell to 0-9.

SMU grabbed the opening double's point of the evening. Tony Russell and Yates Johnson defeated PVAMU's Avella and Yadau, 6-0. The Mustangs secured the point as Markus Kerner and Arkadijs Slobodkins beat the Panters' Lawrence and Boyogueno, 6-1.

In singles play, all six Mustangs defeated their Panther opponents in straight sets. Russell earned his second win of the season defeating PVAMU's Suico, 6-1, 6-0 and Julio Olaya took down Quintero, 6-0, 6-0. SMU officially earned the win as Slobodkins beat PVAMU's Boyogueno, 6-0, 6-0. However, the remaining three matches were played out.

SMU returns to action Thursday at UT Arlington before hosting their first American Athletic Conference opponent, UCF, Sunday, Feb. 26 at 1 p.m. at the SMU Tennis Complex.
