CARY, N.C. (SMU) – SMU Men's Tennis fell 5-0 to California in the second round of the ACC Championships at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C., on Thursday.
The Mustangs dropped the doubles point and lost four singles matches. Cal won its two final points simultaneously.
Trevor Svajda and
Jerry Barton grabbed their first ranked win as a doubles pair by defeating No. 33 Timofey Stepanov / Alexander Aney (6-4) on court one. The pair is 13-5 overall this season.
SMU was eliminated in the second round of the ACC tournament for the second consecutive season.

Trevor Svajda came back after trailing 2-4 to win their singles match against No. 33 Timofey Stepanov / Alexander Aney (6-4) on court one, but Cal won courts two and three to win the doubles point.
Cal's Bernardo Munk Mesa defeated
Krish Arora (6-4, 6-4) on court four to extend the Bears' lead to 2-0. Paris Pouatcha then made it 3-0 for Cal by defeating
Jerry Barton on court five (7-5, 6-2).
The Bears won courts two and three simultaneously to clinch the 5-0 win.
