SOUTHLAKE, Texas (SMU) -- The SMU men's and women's swimming and diving programs today honored the 2017 senior class at a Pre-Conference Time Trial event at the CISD Aquatics Center in Southlake, Texas. On the men's side, five student-athletes were honored, while 11 were recognized on the women's side.

Head Coach Eddie Sinnott on the 2017 men's senior class:
This is really an outstanding senior class that we have. From the pool deck, to the classroom, to their social decorum, we really touched all bases with these guys. They are everything a class should be and it was great to have them for all four years, with the exception of one who came in as a transfer. All of them are graduating on time and I'm really proud of them. They're going to have great futures and they're going to be great hires for anybody.

Head Coach Steve Collins on the 2017 women's senior class:
This is a really large and talented class that we have depended on for four years. When I looked at this class a season ago at our team banquet, I knew this was going to be a great group of seniors that we were going to have to replace. I am proud of the work they've done both in the pool and in the classroom and am looking forward to conference. They're really going to do a great job leading us at that meet.

The Mustang men and women head to the University of Houston for the 2017 American Athletic Conference Championships Feb. 15-18 at the CRWC Natatorium. Divers Bryce Klein and Brook Pospichal have qualified for the NCAA Zone Championships March 6-8 in Columbia, Missouri. The 2017 women's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships are slated for March 15-18 in Indianapolis, and the Mustangs currently have 11 NCAA B cuts. On the men's side, the Championships run March 22-25 and Jonathan Gomez currently has a pair of provisional standards.
