Indian Wells, Calif. (SMU) – The SMU men's tennis team beat Purdue 4-2 Saturday afternoon in the second day of the BNP Paribas Collegiate Open presented by Oracle. With the victory, the Mustangs earned their 10th victory of the season.

The Boilermakers earned the first point of the afternoon, winning on Court 2 and 3. No. 18 Yates Johnson and Hunter Johnson defeated Purdue's Stephan Koenigsfest and Dominik Sochurek on Court 1.

In singles action, Yates Johnson won against Renan Hanayama in straight sets, 6-2 6-3 on Court 6. Tony Russell defeated Athell Bennett also in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4 on Court 5. On Court 4 Markus Kerner won 6-4, 7-5. On Court 3, Samm Butler won 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.

SMU is set to face USF Sunday at 8 a.m. PT/10 a.m. CT.
