DALLAS (SMU) – SMU Men's Tennis dropped a hard-fought 4-3 match against Wisconsin at Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex on Saturday.
 
The Mustangs fell short in completing their comeback after rallying back from a 3-0 deficit.
 
Trevor Svajda and Alex Finkelstein won their first doubles match as a pair. In singles play, Svajda, Jerry Barton and Georgi Georgiev all won their matches in straight sets.
 
Svajda and Barton are 2-0 in singles matches at the start of the season. Both players have a win over a ranked opponent.
 
How it Went
SMU won the first match of the day as Svajda and Finkelstein came out victorious on court one of doubles play over Tomas Zlatohlavek and Oliver Olsson (6-3).
 
Wisconsin won the doubles match on court two while Jerry Barton and Vikas Deo went on a back-and-forth battle on court three against Patrik Meszaros and Matthew Fullerton. The Badger pair edged the Mustangs in a tiebreaker that saw three deuce points (7-6(8)).
 
The Badgers rode their momentum from the doubles win, by winning courts six and two of singles play—extending their lead to 3-0.
 
The Mustangs rallied back with Svajda earning them their first point with a win on court one against Michael Minasyan (6-2, 6-3).

Barton decreased the deficit to one point with a win over Sachiv Kumar on court five (6-4, 6-2) and Georgiev tied the match by defeating Ferdinand Kloesters on court three (6-2, 6-4).
 
Krish Arora battled back after dropping the first set of his match on court four. He forced a deuce on the second set but ended up falling to Matthew Fullerton (6-3, 7-5), Wisconsin won 4-3.
