1 Meter Results / Upcoming Live Results / Upcoming Live Stream

COLUMBIA, Mo. (SMU) – SMU diver Bryce Klein posted a 10th-place finish out of 32 competing divers on 1 meter to open the 2017 NCAA Zone D Diving Championships Monday. The three-day event is being held at the Mizzou Aquatic Center and is one of five qualifying events across the country for the NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Championships held March 22-25 in Indianapolis.

Klein posted a 662.20 over two lists after carrying over a preliminary total of 340.25, which positioned him 10th heading into the final.

"Bryce struggled on 1 meter today," head diving coach Jim Stillson said of the junior's performance. "He is dealing with some injuries and finished 10th. If he can be a little sharper tomorrow and finish in the top 9 he will be able to compete both boards at the NCAAs."

The top eight automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships. Because Klein finished inside the top 12 today, he still has the opportunity to qualify for the NCAA Championships on 1 meter if he turns in a top-nine performance on 3 meter tomorrow. Qualifying numbers vary by Zone Championship and event based on the previous season's success from those Zones.

LSU's Juan Hernandez led the field of qualifiers with a two-round total of 828.00. Tyler Henschel and Sam Thornton of Texas A&M rounded out the top three.

The Championships resume at 11 a.m. CT Tuesday with 3 meter springboard action. Follow live results at divemeets.com and watch on the SEC Network+.
