Memphis, Tenn. (SMU) – The SMU men's tennis team (10-8, 2-1 The American) lost at Memphis 4-2 Saturday afternoon. The Tigers improved to 13-5 overall (2-0 The American) and remains unbeaten at home this season (9-0).
SMU won the doubles competition to earn the first point of the afternoon.
Samm Butler and
Ronald Slobodchikov defeated Memphis' Matt Story and Jan Pallares 6-4 on Court 3.
Hunter Johnson and
Arkadijs Slobodkins beat Memphis' Ryan Peniston and Felix Rauch 7-5 on Court 2 to secure the point for SMU.
In singles play, No. 83
Hunter Johnson defeated No. 75 Andrew Watson on Court 2 to earn SMU's second point of the afternoon. Despite hard fought battles, the Tigers secured wins on Court 3, 4, 5 and 6 to win the match.
