NEW ORLEANS (SMU)— Samm Butler won in straight sets on Court 3 to score the Mustangs' lone point in SMU's 6-1 loss at Tulane Wednesday afternoon. The Mustangs are now 12-10 overall and 2-3 in American Athletic Conference play, while the Green Wave improved to 17-4 (2-2 The American) and remained undefeated at home this season (11-0).
Tulane won the first point of the evening claiming victories on Court 1 and Court 2.
Tony Russell and
Hunter Johnson fell to Tulane's Schick and Moore 6-2 on Court 2.
Ronald Slobodchikov and
Samm Butler defeated Ruetzel and Rey 6-3 on Court 3. However, Schmitz and Jao took a 6-4 victory over
Markus Kerner and
Yates Johnson to earn an early 1-0 lead.
In singles play, Butler beat Tulane's Ewan Moore in straight sets, 7-5, 6-0, on Court 3.
SMU hosts Rice for Senior Day Sunday at 1 p.m. at the SMU Tennis Complex. Senior Day activities are set to begin after the match concludes.
