Lindsey McCurdy and freshman
Kenzie Wright are tied for 10th and lead the SMU women's golf team after round one of the PING/ASU Invitational, carding 1-under 71. As a team, the Mustangs are tied for seventh with Kansas State at 6-over 294.
McCurdy and Wright accounted for eight of the Mustangs' 11 birdies, carding four each, to give them the fourth highest individual total after the first 18 holes.
Sophomore
Brigitte Dunne also sits inside the top 20, tied for 18th after shooting even-par 72 with three birdies.
Freshman
Ana Paula Ramirez and
Faith Summers are also representing the Mustangs in Tempe, each shooting 8-over to round out the scoring for SMU.
Host Arizona State and Baylor share the lead at 10-under 278, while ASU's Monica Vaughn leads the 80-player field at 8-under 64.
Play resumes with round two action Saturday. The Mustangs tee off at 10 a.m. CT and are paired with Kansas State and Kentucky.
