DALLAS (SMU)— The SMU men's tennis team defeated Prairie View A&M 7-0 Saturday afternoon at the SMU Tennis Complex. The Mustangs improved to 11-8 (2-1 The American) on the season while the Panthers fell to 4-23 (2-1 SWAC).

SMU earned the opening point of the match. Yates Johnson and Markus Kerner defeated Lawrence and Boyogueno 6-1 on Court 1. Hunter Johnson and Tony Russell also beat Quintero and Suico 6-1 on Court 2 to give the Mustangs an early 1-0 lead.

In singles action, SMU's Samm Butler defeated PVAMU's Boyogueno, 6-1, 4-3, on Court 1. No. 87 Hunter Johnson beat PVAMU's Lawrence, 6-2, 6-1, on Court 2. Tony Russell swept PVAMU's Quintero, 6-0, 6-0, on Court 5. Markus Kerner defeated Yadav, 6-1, 6-3, on Court 4 and Yates Johnson beat PVAMU's Suico, 6-1, 6-1, on Court 6.

Next, the Mustangs host USF tomorrow at 1 p.m.
