Podmanikova, Samardzic Lead Mustangs Against No. 10 Missouri

DALLAS (SMU) – Andrea Podmanikova led the SMU women's swimming and diving team in her first event as a Mustang sweeping breaststroke events in Friday's dual meet with No. 10 Missouri. Matea Samardzic also took home a win for the Mustangs at the event. The Mustangs hosted the Tigers in their second event at the new Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium.

Podmanikova paced the field in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.36, and touched in 2:17.82 for the win in the 200 distance. She also helped the 200-yard medley relay team to a runner-up performance teaming up with Samardzic, Erin Trahan and Felicity Passon for a season-best 1:43.30.

Samardzic picked up SMU's third win of the day with a victory in the 200-yard backstroke (2:00.57), while finishing second in both the 100 distance (56.38) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:05.44).

Four Mustangs combined for five additional runner-up performances in their respective races including El Yellin (1,000 free), Trahan (100 fly, 200 fly), Passon (100 free) and Alexandra Manasso (500 free).

The meet was held in conjunction with the Tennessee Diving Invitational, which featured freshmen Kara Bradley and Giovanna Hnath.
