DALLAS (SMU) – SMU closed out its fall season and finished fifth with a 54-hole total of 35-over 899 at the Trinity Forest Invitational, which was played at their home course, Trinity Forest Golf Club. The Mustangs shot 12-over-par 300 in Tuesday's final round. Sophomore
Kennedy Pedigo claimed a top-10 finish.
"It's so fun to host a tournament at such a great facility as Trinity Forest Golf Club," said Head Coach
Jeanne Sutherland. "We did a nice job of battling in today's winds. We gave a ton of shots back with our putters all week, so we know what our focus will be in the offseason. We are young and hard-working so we have the capacity to keep moving up the rankings, but we're going to have to make fewer mistakes to do it. I have great faith that this group will figure it out."
Seven out of the 12 teams, including SMU, which competed this week were ranked in the top-58 by Golfstat.
Pedigo shot a 6-over 222 to move up the leaderboard and tie for 10th. The Fort Worth, Texas native posted two birdies and an eagle on hole 1 to finish one-over on the day. She tallied five birdies over the course of the tournament.
Senior
Brigitte Dunne carded an 8-over 224 and tied for 16th. Dunne led the Mustangs heading into the final round after carding a 3-over 147 on Monday. The California native posted five birdies throughout the tournament with an eagle on hole 1 to start the second round.
