DALLAS (SMU) – SMU women's tennis notched four singles victories on the second day of the SMU Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the SMU Tennis Complex.
Senior
Vivienne Kulicke advanced to the final of the No. 3 singles draw, beating Iulia Ivascu of Texas A&M 6-0, 7-5. Senior
Ana Perez-Lopez recorded a dominant win in the No. 1 singles draw, topping Middle Tennessee State's Zani Barnard 6-2, 6-0.
Junior
Sarai Monarrez Yesaki picked up a win in the No. 2 singles draw, defeating Phonexay Chitdara of Houston 6-1, 6-2. Her classmate
Tiffany Hollebeck beat Antonia Blattner of Northwestern State in the No. 4 singles draw by a score of 6-4, 6-0.
In doubles play, the duo of freshman
Katherine Jakeway and sophomore
Emma Pieroni defeated the team of Kermet and Peris from Middle Tennessee State 6-4.
Kulicke faces Sarah Adams of Abilene Christian tomorrow for the No. 3 singles draw title, while the rest of the Mustangs will play consolation matches. Action begins at 9 a.m. with doubles matches.
