MEDINAH, Illinois (SMU) – The Mustangs finished in ninth place, shooting three-over (867) at the Illini Women's Invitational at Medinah Country Club on Tuesday.
No. 26 SMU competed in a field that included nine teams ranked 36
th or better by
Golfweek.
"We played steady golf, but the course and conditions allowed for great golf," said Head Coach
Jeanne Sutherland. "We have some skills that need to be a lot sharper. The problem wasn't a lack of birdies as it was a lot of bogies."
Junior
Ana Paula Ramirez led the Mustangs, finishing in a tie for 33
rd after shooting two-over (218). Freshman
Katie James carded a three-over (219) to tie for 40
th.
Senior
Brigitte Dunne and sophomore
Kennedy Pedigo recorded four-over (220) to close out the tournament tied for 43
rd.
Sophomores
Lauren Chappell (+5, 221, T50) and
Sophie DiGesualdo (+7, 223, T57) rounded out SMU's scorecard.
SMU's next tournament is October 19-21 at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas. The Mustangs close out the fall at the end of the month when they host the Trinity Forest Invitational October 29-30 in Dallas.
