DALLAS (SMU) – The Mustangs closed out competition at the Art Adamson Invitational hosted by Texas A&M in College Station on Friday.
Matan Segal led SMU with a Championship Final performance in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing in 1:46.07 for seventh place.
Stephen Cheng and
Trey Kilbride competed in the event's Consolation Final and were 10th and 16th, respectively.
The 1,650-yard freestyle saw three swimmers registered top-10 performances.
Lucas Schenke finished in 16:00.86 for seventh place to lead the way, and
Wyatt Cronk (8th) and
Ridge Livermore (10th) followed.
Three additional Mustangs made an appearance in a Consolation Final of their own as
Kianu Kitching finished 12th in the 200-yard breaststroke B Final, just ahead of
Connor Dalbo at 13th and
Brayden Rudd at 14th.
In relay action, SMU closed out the event placing ninth in the 400-yard freestyle relay as
Ralph Koo,
Matthew Nutter, Schenke and
Jesse Washington covered the distance in 3:02.70.
Friday was also day two of the IU Invitational, where the Mustangs are represented by
Parker Hardigree in diving action. Hardigree placed 12th in the 3 meter final with a final score of 283.50.
The Mustangs are back in action after a winter hiatus on Jan. 4 when the swimmers host Loyola New Orleans at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center, and Jan. 4-6 when the divers compete at the Georgia Diving Invite in Athens.
