Mustangs Defeat TCU, 181-104

DALLAS (SMU) – For the third consecutive season, the SMU men's swimming and diving team defeated Metroplex rival TCU with a 181-104 victory at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium Friday.

The Mustangs improved to 29-3-1 all-time against the Horned Frogs, and are 2-1 in dual meets this season.

Parker Hardigree swept diving events posting an NCAA Zone qualifying score on 1 meter with a 308.00. The freshman also won the 3-meter competition with a six-round 313.75.

SMU's relays posted season-best times for the win in both the 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay. Trey Kilbride, Aedan Lewis, Simon Golczyk and Ralph Koo were victorious in the medley (1:31.08), while Jesse Washington, Matthew Nutter, Koo and Lucas Schenke won the 400 free relay in 3:03.15.

Individually, Ralph Koo and Stephen Cheng posted two individual wins to lead seven total Mustangs to race victories. Koo took the sprint free victories, clocking in at 20.66 in the 50-yard freestyle and 45.74 in the 100. Newcomer Jesse Washington also finished top three in the 100 with a 46.52, good for third. Cheng swept backstroke events at the meet coming in at 50.25 in the 100 and 1:48.15 in the 200. Kilbride was the runner-up in the 100 back, while also finishing third in the 200.

Other swimmers to turn in wins included Arthur Yuen, who led Dalbo and Brayden Rudd to 1-2-3 finishes in the 100 breast, Garrett Carson (200 fly), Connor Dalbo (200 breast), Ridge Livermore (500 free) and Simon Golczyk (100 fly).

Additional runner-up performances were turned in by Wyatt Cronk (1,000 free), Nutter (200 free) and Kianu Kitching (200 IM).

SMU is back in action Nov. 14-16 when the swimmers head to the Art Adamson Invite in College Station, Texas, and the divers head to the IU Diving Invite (Nov. 15-17) in Bloomington, Ind. Check SMUMustangs.com for ways to follow the action.
