The SMU Mustangs host Oral Roberts on Sunday. SMU defeated McNeese 91-59 on Thursday for its third straight victory. Jimmy Whitt Jr. recorded the first triple-double at SMU since 1999 with 12 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in Thursday's win. His 10 assists were part of a season-high 24 assists for the Mustangs after totaling 23 assists in Tuesday's 79-65 win against Lamar. SMU has had four players score in double figures in each of the past two games after only doing that once in the first six contests.
Preseason All-AAC selection Jahmal McMurray is leading SMU in scoring (19.0, 3rd AAC) and is hitting 44.6 percent from 3-point range (4th AAC). His 4.1 threes made per game lead the AAC and rank 10th nationally. Sophomore Ethan Chargois is averaging 14.6 points (13th AAC), 6.9 rebounds (8th AAC) and 1.3 blocked shots (7th AAC). Jimmy Whitt Jr. is third on the team at 12.3 points (23rd AAC) and 6.6 rebounds (11th AAC) with a team-high 4.5 assists (6th AAC) and a 2.6 assist-to-turnover ratio (7th AAC) while shooting 55.4 percent. Nat Dixon is adding 7.4 points and hitting a 40.6 percent from three. Freshman Feron Hunt is second on the team at 6.8 rebounds (9th AAC) to go with 7.3 points. Jarrey Foster is averaging 9.0 and 3.0 rebounds in 18.5 minutes in his first two games back from a knee injury suffered in the 83-78 win at [7/4] Which State on Jan. 17.

LAST GAME (W, 91-59 vs McNeese on Nov. 29): DALLAS (AP) -- Jimmy Whitt Jr. had a triple-double as SMU overwhelmed McNeese 91-59 on Thursday night for its third straight win. Whitt had 12 points and 10 rebounds to go with 10 assists to record SMU's first triple-double since 1999. He was 6 of 9 from the field with three steals. Jahmal McMurray led the scoring for the Mustangs (5-3), knocking down five from distance to total 19 points. Isiaha Mike was 3 of 6 from long range for 18 points as SMU drilled 11 of 29 from beyond the arc. Ethan Chargois contributed 11 points as all 10 Mustangs put points on the board. Feron Hunt posted seven points while grabbing eight rebounds as SMU won the rebound battle 38-23. The Mustangs never trailed, taking a 40-24 lead into the half. Whitt hit a jumper to start the second half and SMU won that period 51-35. James Harvey came off the bench to score 16 points for McNeese (2-4). Roydell Brown added 13.
THE SERIES VS. ORAL ROBERTS (7-2): The Mustangs won the first six matchups dating back to 1992. When the teams met March 16, 2011, in Dallas as SMU beat ORU 64-57 in overtime in the first round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament.
LAST MEETING VS ORAL ROBERTS: (L, 62-56 in Tulsa on Nov. 21, 2011): TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Dominique Morrison scored 30 points as Oral Roberts won 62-56 over SMU in a consolation round of the Dick's Sporting Goods NIT Season Tip-Off. SMU fell behind 30-13 in the first half, then rallied to tie the game at 45-45 on a Robert Nyakundi 3-pointer with 7:39 to go. SMU was within 49-48 with 4:47 remaining, but never took the lead. Morrison sank 10 of 16 shots, including three 3-pointers, and went 7 of 10 at the line for the Golden Eagles (3-2). Steven Roundtree added 11 points, and Michael Craion had nine rebounds. Robert Nyakundi paced the Mustangs (2-3) with 16 points. London Giles and Jalen Jones scored 12 apiece, andJeremiah Samarrippas had 11. Morrison's jump shot gave the Golden Eagles their largest lead at 30-13 with 1:16 to go before halftime. But the Mustangs pared the gap to single figures at 32-34 on Nyakundi's 3-pointer with 17:18 left. They tied the game at 45-45 and got within one four other times, the last at 49-48 with 4:47 remaining, but never took the lead.
UP NEXT: SMU concludes its four-game homestand against [rv/rv] TCU on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 9 p.m.. The Mustangs then play a road game at Georgetown on Dec. 15 before finishing non-conference play at home vs Cornell on Dec. 22.
JUST ONE: Jarrey Foster is the only scholarship member of the Mustangs that has played at SMU for more than one season. SMU is one of 12 teams with one or less entering a third season.

HEAD COACH TIM JANKOVICH... is in his third season at the helm at SMU after four seasons as the associate head coach. He is in his 36th season as a collegiate coach, and his 14th as a head coach. As a head coach, he is 218-145 (.601) [61-24 at SMU (.718), including 42-7 at Moody Coliseum (started 36-0, second best in NCAA history)]. That includes a 104-64 mark at ISU where his teams recorded four top-three finishes in the Missouri Valley, reached the conference tournament final three times and earned four NIT bids. As an assistant or head coach, his teams are 628-375 (.626) with six regular season conference championships, four league tournament titles, nine NCAA Tournament appearances and eight NIT bids. This is his 12th season as the leader of a Division I program, including five as head coach at Illinois State (2007-12) and four at North Texas (1993-97).
The 2017-18 Mustangs started 13-6 with three wins over ranked opponents, topping No. 2 Arizona in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, No. 14 USC at Moody Coliseum and No. 7 Wichita State on the road. In 2016-17, SMU finished 30-5 and No. 11 in the AP poll after winning The American regular season and tournament titles en route to the NCAA Tournament. In 2015-16, he coached the Mustangs to a 9-0 start as SMU was eventually the last unbeaten team in the country at 18-0, and winning the Las Vegas Classic title during the season-opening streak. The Mustangs went 25-5, finishing the season ranked No. 24 after reaching a high of No. 8. In 2014-15, the Mustangs claimed the AAC regular season and tournament championships en route to the NCAA Tournament. SMU was the top seed in the 2014 NIT, reaching the title game.

Shake Milton missed the final 11 games (right hand), Jarrey Foster missed the last 14 games (left knee) and Everett Ray was out for the final 16 contests (right ankle, left foot). The New Moody single-game attendance record of 7,518 was set in the 60-51 win against then No. 11/11 Cincinnati (Feb. 12, 2017). SMU has sold out 52 of 87 games in Moody Coliseum since the renovated facility opened Jan. 4, 2014.

TROPHY CASE: Since the start of the 2013-14 season, the Mustangs have added six items to the trophy case after adding the 2016-17 American Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles. INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE FOR THE MUSTANGS (Current Roster): In the past few seasons, several Mustangs have played in international events or gone on international tours. NBA - DRAFT: Shake Milton was selected in the second round (54th overall) of the 2018 NBA Draft. He was picked by the Dallas Mavericks, then traded to the Philadelphia 76ers where he signed a two-way contract. SMU's Semi Ojeleye and Sterling Brown were selected in the 2017 NBA Draft. Ojeleye was selected 37th overall by the Boston Celtics and Brown was picked 46th overall by the Philadelphia 76ers (traded to Milwaukee). This was the fourth time the Mustangs had multiple picks in the NBA Draft, but the first time with multiple selections in the first two rounds. Ben Moore signed as a free agent with the Indiana Pacers and is now on a two-way contract with the San Antonio Spurs.

The SMU Mustangs host Oral Roberts on Sunday. SMU defeated McNeese 91-59 on Thursday for its third straight victory. Jimmy Whitt Jr. recorded the first triple-double at SMU since 1999 with 12 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in Thursday's win. His 10 assists were part of a season-high 24 assists for the Mustangs after totaling 23 assists in Tuesday's 79-65 win against Lamar. SMU has had four players score in double figures in each of the past two games after only doing that once in the first six contests.
Preseason All-AAC selection Jahmal McMurray is leading SMU in scoring (19.0, 3rd AAC) and is hitting 44.6 percent from 3-point range (4th AAC). His 4.1 threes made per game lead the AAC and rank 10th nationally. Sophomore Ethan Chargois is averaging 14.6 points (13th AAC), 6.9 rebounds (8th AAC) and 1.3 blocked shots (7th AAC). Jimmy Whitt Jr. is third on the team at 12.3 points (23rd AAC) and 6.6 rebounds (11th AAC) with a team-high 4.5 assists (6th AAC) and a 2.6 assist-to-turnover ratio (7th AAC) while shooting 55.4 percent. Nat Dixon is adding 7.4 points and hitting a 40.6 percent from three. Freshman Feron Hunt is second on the team at 6.8 rebounds (9th AAC) to go with 7.3 points. Jarrey Foster is averaging 9.0 and 3.0 rebounds in 18.5 minutes in his first two games back from a knee injury suffered in the 83-78 win at [7/4] Which State on Jan. 17.

LAST GAME (W, 91-59 vs McNeese on Nov. 29): DALLAS (AP) -- Jimmy Whitt Jr. had a triple-double as SMU overwhelmed McNeese 91-59 on Thursday night for its third straight win. Whitt had 12 points and 10 rebounds to go with 10 assists to record SMU's first triple-double since 1999. He was 6 of 9 from the field with three steals. Jahmal McMurray led the scoring for the Mustangs (5-3), knocking down five from distance to total 19 points. Isiaha Mike was 3 of 6 from long range for 18 points as SMU drilled 11 of 29 from beyond the arc. Ethan Chargois contributed 11 points as all 10 Mustangs put points on the board. Feron Hunt posted seven points while grabbing eight rebounds as SMU won the rebound battle 38-23. The Mustangs never trailed, taking a 40-24 lead into the half. Whitt hit a jumper to start the second half and SMU won that period 51-35. James Harvey came off the bench to score 16 points for McNeese (2-4). Roydell Brown added 13.
THE SERIES VS. ORAL ROBERTS (7-2): The Mustangs won the first six matchups dating back to 1992. When the teams met March 16, 2011, in Dallas as SMU beat ORU 64-57 in overtime in the first round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament.
LAST MEETING VS ORAL ROBERTS: (L, 62-56 in Tulsa on Nov. 21, 2011): TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Dominique Morrison scored 30 points as Oral Roberts won 62-56 over SMU in a consolation round of the Dick's Sporting Goods NIT Season Tip-Off. SMU fell behind 30-13 in the first half, then rallied to tie the game at 45-45 on a Robert Nyakundi 3-pointer with 7:39 to go. SMU was within 49-48 with 4:47 remaining, but never took the lead. Morrison sank 10 of 16 shots, including three 3-pointers, and went 7 of 10 at the line for the Golden Eagles (3-2). Steven Roundtree added 11 points, and Michael Craion had nine rebounds. Robert Nyakundi paced the Mustangs (2-3) with 16 points. London Giles and Jalen Jones scored 12 apiece, andJeremiah Samarrippas had 11. Morrison's jump shot gave the Golden Eagles their largest lead at 30-13 with 1:16 to go before halftime. But the Mustangs pared the gap to single figures at 32-34 on Nyakundi's 3-pointer with 17:18 left. They tied the game at 45-45 and got within one four other times, the last at 49-48 with 4:47 remaining, but never took the lead.
UP NEXT: SMU concludes its four-game homestand against [rv/rv] TCU on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 9 p.m.. The Mustangs then play a road game at Georgetown on Dec. 15 before finishing non-conference play at home vs Cornell on Dec. 22.

HEAD COACH TIM JANKOVICH... is in his third season at the helm at SMU after four seasons as the associate head coach. He is in his 36th season as a collegiate coach, and his 14th as a head coach. As a head coach, he is 218-145 (.601) [61-24 at SMU (.718), including 42-7 at Moody Coliseum (started 36-0, second best in NCAA history)]. That includes a 104-64 mark at ISU where his teams recorded four top-three finishes in the Missouri Valley, reached the conference tournament final three times and earned four NIT bids. As an assistant or head coach, his teams are 628-375 (.626) with six regular season conference championships, four league tournament titles, nine NCAA Tournament appearances and eight NIT bids. This is his 12th season as the leader of a Division I program, including five as head coach at Illinois State (2007-12) and four at North Texas (1993-97).
The 2017-18 Mustangs started 13-6 with three wins over ranked opponents, topping No. 2 Arizona in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, No. 14 USC at Moody Coliseum and No. 7 Wichita State on the road. In 2016-17, SMU finished 30-5 and No. 11 in the AP poll after winning The American regular season and tournament titles en route to the NCAA Tournament. In 2015-16, he coached the Mustangs to a 9-0 start as SMU was eventually the last unbeaten team in the country at 18-0, and winning the Las Vegas Classic title during the season-opening streak. The Mustangs went 25-5, finishing the season ranked No. 24 after reaching a high of No. 8. In 2014-15, the Mustangs claimed the AAC regular season and tournament championships en route to the NCAA Tournament. SMU was the top seed in the 2014 NIT, reaching the title game.

TROPHY CASE: Since the start of the 2013-14 season, the Mustangs have added six items to the trophy case after adding the 2016-17 American Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles. NBA - DRAFT: Shake Milton was selected in the second round (54th overall) of the 2018 NBA Draft. He was picked by the Dallas Mavericks, then traded to the Philadelphia 76ers where he signed a two-way contract. SMU's Semi Ojeleye and Sterling Brown were selected in the 2017 NBA Draft. Ojeleye was selected 37th overall by the Boston Celtics and Brown was picked 46th overall by the Philadelphia 76ers (traded to Milwaukee). This was the fourth time the Mustangs had multiple picks in the NBA Draft, but the first time with multiple selections in the first two rounds. Ben Moore signed as a free agent with the Indiana Pacers and is now on a two-way contract with the San Antonio Spurs.
