Passon, Podmanikova Wrap Up World Short Course Competition

HANGZHOU, China (SMU) – Felicity Passon and Andrea Podmanikova wrapped up competition at the 14th FINA World Short Course Swimming Championships over the weekend.

Passon, who swims for Seychelles, posted a National Record time of 1:00.81 in the 100-meter backstroke, good for 36th place in heats. In the 100-meter freestyle, she was 37th at 56.47. She also competed on two of Seychelles' relays, finishing 23rd as part of the 4x50 mixed free relay and 28th as part of the 4x50 mixed medley relay.

Podmanikova contributed to a National Record of her own as the 4x100 medley relay squad from Slovakia posted a 4:02.36 for 11th in the event. In individual races, Podmanikova was 16th in 200-meter breaststroke heats at 2:24.30 for her highest placement of the Championships. Podmanikova also raced the 50- and 100-meter distances of the breaststroke, coming in at 30th (31.34) and 27th (1:07.55), respectively, as well as the 100-meter individual medley in which she placed 29th (1:02.77).

Former Mustang standout Isabella Aricla competed for Colombia at the event, earning first reserve status in the 100-meter freestyle (53.88) with a 17th place finish. She also finished 20th in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 24.83, 22nd in the 50-meter backstroke (27.26) and 23rd in the 100-meter backstroke (58.83).
