DALLAS (SMU) – The No. 5 SMU equestrian team dropped No. 10 UT Martin, 15-3, Friday at the Dallas Equestrian Center.
The Mustangs (7-2, 4-0 UEC) quickly took a 4-1 lead after the day's first event, Equitation on the Flat.
Mary Elizabeth Cordia defeated Monika Zoromski, 80-66, before
Vivian Yowan toppled Quinn Reed, 80-0.
Nora Gray downed Randi LaChance, 90-79, to earn MOP honors, before
Kirsten Ostling closed the event with a 68-67 edge over Abbie Hopkins.
In Horsemanship, SMU extended its lead to 6-3 over the Skyhawks (2-5, 2-2 UEC).
Haylee Schoonover notched a 74-71.5 victory over Lucie Lundquist to earn MOP honors.
Charlotte Selby scored a 72.5 to best Lucy Eier's 69.5.
SMU secured the victory following a dominant 4-0 showing in reining.
Jill Pfisthner tallied the first point for SMU with a 71-70.5 victory over Maddy Williams.
Holly Lansidel downed Noel Meadows, 68-67, before
Keagan Snively posted a 72 to knock off Liana Nowak, 72-69.5, and win the MOP.
Madison Steed closed the event with a 73-70 win again Hannah McDonald.
The Mustangs concluded the meet with a 5-0 sweep in Equitation Over Fences.
Alexandra Murphy tallied the first point for SMU with a 76-0 victory over Grace Rogers. Gray bettered Lindsay Anderson, 84-75, before
Hayley Banas posted an 83-79 win.
Brett Burlington posted a 77-73 win over Hopkins, before Yowan
earned MOP honors with an 85-80 victory over Zoromski.
SMU returns to action tomorrow at 10 a.m. with a matchup against South Dakota State. The Mustangs will honor its seven seniors prior to the event.
