Mustangs Suffer 4-0 Loss at No. 10 Oklahoma State

Box Score STILLWATER, OKLA. (SMU) – The Mustangs faced their third nationally-ranked opponent of the dual match season on Sunday, falling 4-0 to No. 10 Oklahoma State on the road at the Greenwood Tennis Center. SMU is now 5-7, while Oklahoma State improves to 11-3.

The Cowboys struck first, claiming the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. Tomas Vaise and Jan-Simon Vrbsky faced Oklahoma State's Julian Cash and Luke Hammond, but the freshmen duo couldn't overtake the No. 38-ranked doubles pair and fell 6-1. At No. 2 doubles, Charles Nettlefold and Roberto Rosales were defeated by Artur Dubinski and Jurence Mendoza, 6-2.

In singles play, Oklahoma State picked up first-set victories in every match except No. 2, where Vaise forced No. 84 Dubinski into a tiebreak and won the first set, 7-6 (4).

Before Vaise's second set could finish, the Mustangs took losses on courts one, three and six to clinch the victory for Oklahoma State. Jan-Simon Vrbsky, Charles Nettlefold and Gardiner Perotti each suffered losses at the hands of the Cowboys.

SMU heads back to Dallas to take on No. 34 Memphis on Sunday, March 4, for the team's first American Conference matchup. The match will begin at 1 p.m. at the SMU Tennis Complex.
