SCOUTING UCF:
UCF is coming off a 13-9 season in 2016-17 in which the team advanced to the second round of the American Conference Championships, and so far, the Knights have picked up where they left off last season. UCF opened with an upset victory over No. 15 South Carolina and a win against North Texas at home. The team's only loss was a hard-fought 4-3 defeat at the hands of Alabama. The Knights return three upperclassmen: senior Emilia Granstrom, senior Monica Matias and junior Natalia Serrano.
SCOUTING NORTHWESTERN STATE:
Northwestern State returns just two upperclassmen, redshirt senior Polina Ivanova and junior Polina Mutel, who play in the team's top two singles slots. Despite a slow 0-3 start this season, the Lady Demons finished 13-9 in 2016-17. The Lady Demons were swept by both LSU and Tulane to begin the season, but fought to a 3-4 loss to UL Lafayette. Mutel picked up a No. 1 singles win against the Ragin' Cajuns, while Ivanova lost in straight sets.
