BISHOP, Ga. (SMU) – The fifth-ranked SMU Mustangs fell to top-ranked Georgia, 11-8, on Friday afternoon at the UGA Equestrian Complex.
SMU (8-3) shined in reining with a 4-0 victory. Keagan Snively claimed the first point of the event with a 66.5-65 win over Jordan Carpenter, before Jill Pfisthner rode to a 68.5 to better Graysen Stroud's 66.5 and earn MOP honors. Olivia Pakula downed Kyndall Harper 68.5-67.5, before Holly Lansidel scored a discipline best 70 to top Julia Spreng, 70-67.5
Georgia (8-1) opened the day with a 3-2 win in Equitation Over Fences. SMU's Vivian Yowan beat Emma Mandarino, 79-76, before Nora Gray knocked off Sydney Hutchins, 81-77.
The Mustangs posted two points in Equitation on the Flat, with Yowan and Gray picking up the wins for SMU. Yowan beat Addy Cord, 82-79 for her second win of the day, before Gray topped Madison Newman, 81-77.
The Bulldogs posted a 5-0 win in horsemanship.
SMU returns to competition tomorrow when they travel to No.2 Auburn.
