Mustangs Set to Compete at San Diego Crew Classic

DALLAS (SMU) - After two weeks off following its home regatta, SMU is back in action at the San Diego Crew Classic on Saturday and Sunday.
"I'm excited for the opportunity to be able to match up to so many teams after all the work we got in over spring training," captain Alyssa Sands said. "It will be good to see some teams in our conference for the first time this semester.The team is ready to get some practice and racing meters in on a challenging course and in the exciting race atmosphere of the crew classic."
The Mustangs will be looking to build on its strong performance last time out where SMU won each of the seven 1,000-meter pieces against Creighton at the Mustangs' lone home scrimmage this season.
Action begins for the Mustangs in San Diego early on Saturday morning with the 1V 8+ heats at 10:48 a.m CT.
For the 1V 8+ heats, places 1-3 advance to Final A on Sunday, while 4-6 advance to Petite Final. For the 2V 8+ and varsity 4+ heats, places 1-2 advance to Final A, 3-4 advance to Petite Final, and 5-6 to Third Final.
After the San Diego Crew Classic, the Mustangs will travel to the Sunshine State Invitational on April 6-7.
