FINAL RESULTS
LAS VEGAS (SMU) – McClure Meissner and Gray Townsend both shot even par 72s Wednesday to pace SMU on the final day of the Southern Highlands Collegiate. In the No. 1-ranked field in college golf, Meissner picked up his third top-20 finish of the season, while Townsend picked up his third top-30 finish on the year.
Meissner finished the event at 2-over par (72-74-72—218) to finish in an eight-way tie for 20th. He has now finished in the top-30 in six of seven events this year and in the top-25 in four.
Townsend climbed eight positions on the final day of play to finish tied for 28th. The veteran posted a three-day 219 (76-71-72).
Newcomer Noah Goodwin finished tied for 56th ( 8, 82-66-76), while sophomore Jackson Markham finished tied for 59th ( 9, 77-74-74). Daniel Connolly finished 77th ( 19, 80-79-76).
As a team, the Mustangs carded a 6-over 294 on the final day to the finished 13th overall ( 20, 305-285-294—884). SMU finished ahead of No. 43 Northwestern and American Athletic Conference foe UCF. The three-day tournament featured the nation's best teams, including four of the top-10 teams in the country and nine of the top 30.
SMU will have two weeks off for spring break before heading to California to play in The Goodwin. The tournament, which is traditionally played at Stanford Golf Course, will be played at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco due to course renovations.
