DALLAS (SMU) – After celebrating his achievements on the Hilltop with a pre-match Senior Day ceremony, Charles Nettlefold won his singles and doubles matches in SMU's 5-2 loss to Tulsa on Friday at the SMU Tennis Complex.

The four-year letterwinner earned his 10th doubles win of the spring, improving on his career-best doubles mark this season.

The Mustangs fought until the final match in doubles to secure the doubles point. Jan-Simon Vrbsky and Tomas Vaise impressed in a 6-3 win over the No. 62-ranked pair in the Oracle/ITA Rankings, Joshua Goodger and Jarod Hing. The Mustangs fell on court three, but Nettlefold and Roberto Rosales edged the Golden Hurricane at No. 2, winning the final two games to earn a 7-5 victory.

With the 1-0 lead in singles, the Mustangs worked to fend off the Golden Hurricane. After the Mustangs surrendered a point with a straight set loss on court six, Nettlefold worked his match to a third set to complete a comeback win over Hing. The senior took the match, 1-6, 6-3, 6-2.

No. 102 Goodger outlasted Vrbsky at No. 2, handing the freshman just his ninth loss of dual match season and evening the score at 2-2. The Mustangs gave up two more points on court five and court one to clinch the match for Tulsa.

Perotti's match, gridlocked after two sets, played a match tiebreak in place of the final set. Perotti fell, 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6) to end the match.

The Mustangs face Rice on the road on Sunday at 11 a.m. for the final dual match before the American Athletic Conference Championship on April 19-22 at the SMU Tennis Complex.
