Brittany Adams scored 11 kills to lead the Mustangs, but SMU lost 3-0 at Lipscomb in the season opener Friday night. Freshman

Rachel Woulfe scored seven in her collegiate debut.
The Bisons scored 44 kills, with 10 each by Carlyle Nusbaum and Maddie Phillips. Lipscomb hit .330, while SMU was held to a .096 attack percentage.
Lipscomb took a 2-0 lead with a 25-20 win in the second set. The Mustangs trailed by six, 23-17, but scored three straight to force the Bisons into a timeout. Nusbaum scored a kill and then served an ace for Lipscomb to hold off the comeback attempt.
SMU scored three of the first four points in the set, but Lipscomb took the lead with a 4-0 run for an 8-6 advantage. The momentum shifted when the Bisons won a long rally that could have gone either way with the score tied, 6-6.
The Bisons hit .405 in the first set on their way to a 25-16 win. Lipscomb completed the sweep with a 25-13 victory in the third set.
SMU plays Iowa Saturday at 12 p.m. in its final match of the tournament.
