Final Draws

HOUSTON, Texas – SMU women's tennis wrapped up the Rice Invitational on Sunday with the completion of the singles flights at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.

Sophomore Emma Pieroni led the way for the Mustangs, defeating a pair of foes from Texas State in the Flight 9 consolation bracket. She first beat Andrea Fuchs in straight sets (6-0, 6-4), before topping Joy Chia in a third-set tiebreaker (5-7, 6-2, 10-8).

After completing her unfinished match from yesterday, senior Karina Traxler defeated Alabama's Moka Ito in a Flight 1 consolation match 6-3, 7-6.

Senior Ana Perez-Lopez battled No. 105 Lina Huang from Rice to three sets, but ultimately fell 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 in the Flight 2 semifinals.
