Sep 26

WOLCOTT, Colo. (SMU) – The Mustangs claimed a top-5 finish Wednesday, shooting six-under to close out the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Colorado at 14-over (878) overall. Senior Brigitte Dunne fired a six-under (66), her personal best score, in the final round to place herself tied for 7th overall at three-under for the 54-holes of play.

Dunne also tied the program record for most Eagles in a career (7) after sinking an Eagle on hole No. 2 this afternoon. She finished the tournament with 13 birdies and had the second best Par 5 scoring average.

"I'm really proud of this team," said Head Coach Jeanne Sutherland. "They listened to the adjustments they needed to make and got better each day. This was Brigitte's personal best score and Kennedy had a top 10 finish. All five players contributed greatly to this tournament."

Sophomore Kennedy Pedigo finished with a top-10 spot as well after her performance during the three-day tournament. She recorded two birdies on the day and collected nine total, with a team-high of five coming in the second round, to close out the Challenge. Her overall score of one-under (215) is the best finish of her career.

Freshman Katie James was even on the day, shooting six-over for the tournament, and posted an eagle on the 16th hole, which helped her tie for 28th in her first collegiate tournament. James reduced her score by two strokes each day.

Sophomore Lauren Chappell and redshirt freshman Sophie DiGesualdo both shot 15-over for the tournament, tying for 59th, after rounds of three-over (75) and an even 72. Chappell recorded two birdies on the back nine while DiGesualdo posted six and notched a top-10 spot in the stat leaderboard for shooting one-under in Par 3 scoring.

SMU will return to the course October 8-9 to compete in the Illini Women's Invitational in Medinah, Illinois.
