The SMU women's soccer team welcomed five freshmen into the Mustang family, adding
Wayny Balata, Serena Eboh, Maddie Hansen, Tatum Sutherland and Sadie Wintergalen. Hansen, an Allen, Texas native, is the Fifth and final player in the series introducing fans to these five new Mustangs.
Hansen (No. 12) has not seen any playing time in her position as a forward with the Mustangs in 2019 due to a pre-season injury.
Before joining the Mustangs, Hansen club soccer with Sting for the majority of her youth career before moving to the Solar Youth Developmental Program in 2018-19. The striker was captain of her Sting squad under head coach Brian Flanagan from 2007-2015 and frequently led the team in goals. She spent some time before coming to SMU playing under Kat Webb, a former Mustang soccer standout. Maddie also boasts a US Soccer Training Invite on her resume, earning the invite from 2012-2015.
Why I Chose SMU: I liked how close it was to home. SMU also has such a pretty campus and is a great school.
