DALLAS (SMU)
-- No. 6 SMU shot a dominating 15-under in round three at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate to win the tournament for the first time in program history. It's first time since 2009 that the Mustangs have won back-to-back tournaments in the fall season.

Mac Meissner and Ollie Osborne both birdied the final hole of the tournament to move into a tie for the individual title, marking the first win of the year for both Mustangs.

As a team, the Mustangs shot a 27-under 825 in the 54-hole tournament, setting a new tournament scoring record. It's the second straight tournament where No. 6 SMU has set the tournament scoring record.

SMU sunk a field-high 68 birdies, 15 more than any other team. All five of SMU's starters finished under-par in the tournament - the only other time the Mustangs have done that in the last five years was in their season-opening tournament at Trinity Forest in late September.

Heading into the final round Meissner shared third place, but in round three the San Antonio native bogeyed the 4th hole. Meissner then caught fire on the back nine, sinking birdies on holes 10 and 11. He would go on to birdie 14 and then finish with birdies on 17 and 18 to claim a share of the individual championship. It's the second title for Meissner as a Mustang.

Joining Meissner in the winner's circle was Ollie Osborne who shot up the leaderboard on Tuesday by carding a 6-under 65 to finish 8-under for the tournament. The round of 65 is the sophomore's best of his career. Osborne played a clean round of golf, sinking birdies on six holes and pars on the other 12. It's his second win as a Mustang.

The remainder of the Mustang lineup was lights out at Royal Oaks. Noah Goodwin shot a 5-under 66 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 5th place, his third straight Top 10 finish this season. He was followed by Justin Thompson, who entered the tournament ranked as the No. 9 player in collegiate golf. Thompson finished T13 after firing an even-par 71 in round three on Tuesday. Rounding out the Mustang starters was freshman Dawson Ovard whose 1-under 70 on Tuesday brought him under par for the tournament, sinking birdies on the final two holes to finish T16, his third Top 20 finish of the season.

The Mustangs played two individuals, Jackson Markham and Tyson Dinsmore, at Royal Oaks. Markham finished in a tie for 29th after carding a 1-over 72 on Tuesday to finish 3-over at the event. Dinsmore played well in rounds one and two, sinking three birdies on Monday, but struggled on Tuesday to finish 66th.

SMU heads to the Bahamas for its next event as the Mustangs will play in the White Sands Invitational Nov. 1-3.
