Mustangs Go 1-1 In Saturday Dual Action

DALLAS (SMU) –
The SMU women's swimming and diving team split a double dual on Saturday afternoon at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium. The Mustangs defeated North Texas, 212.50-87.50, but fell to LSU, 171-125. LSU is receiving votes in the TYR Top 25 Poll.

SMU's divers swept the boards at the event, led by the efforts of Katie Crown and Nicole Stambo. Crown was victorious on 3 meter, with an NCAA qualifying score of 286.10, while Stambo won 1 meter for the third time this season with a six-round 282.05.

Crown's win on 3 meter led a 1-2-3 finish for the Mustangs, as Johanna Holloway (274.35) was second and Stambo (251.80) was third, and Stambo's 1 meter victory was complimented by a third place finish for Holloway (251.05).

In the pool, Erin Trahan posted a butterfly sweep, winning the 100 in 54.37 and the 200 in 2:00.45. Olivia Grossklaus was also top three in the 200 at 2:02.86.

SMU's final event winners were Frederica Kizek and Gabi Grobler. Kizek paced the field in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:15.74, and was also the Mustangs' top finisher in the 500 free, leading two Ponies in the top three with a runner-up finish. Grobler was the winner of the 400 IM, touching the wall in 4:24.90.

Other top performers included Felicia Anderson with a pair of third place finishes in backstroke events, and Alex Stevens with a third place finish in the 100 free.

In relay action, the Mustangs were second in both the 400 medley and 200 freestyle relays.

SMU is back in action Nov. 21-23 for the SMU Invitational.
