Heim Named AAC Setter Of The Year; Woulfe And Jacobs Earn All-Conference

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (SMU/AAC) – Lily Heim was named American Athletic Conference Setter of the Year and earned first-team accolades. Rachel Woulfe was also named First-Team All-American Athletic Conference, while Hannah Jacobs was voted to the second team. This marks the first time in program history that SMU has placed multiple sophomores on the all-conference first team.

Heim becomes just the second SMU player to earn Setter of the Year, joining All-American Avery Acker, who won the award twice. Heim finished the conference schedule sixth in the NCAA and second in The American with 11.72 assists per set, a mere 0.37 per set behind national and conference leader Armania Heckenmueller from Cincinnati. Against league opponents, Heim's average went up to 11.77.
The Omaha, Neb., native posted a career-high 63 assists in four sets at Wichita State, and eclipsed 50 in a match 10 times this season, including five four-set matches. Heim averaged 2.96 digs per set, and had 16 double-doubles. She tallied a career-high 22 digs at ECU, and had 20 at Wichita State. Heim guided the Mustangs to a .232 attack percentage and 14.27 kills per set, 18th in the NCAA and second in The American.

Woulfe averaged 3.03 kills per set with a .294 attack percentage, tied for 11th in The American and tailing only the SMU middle blockers for the team high. She scored a career-high 22 kills in four sets at Wichita State. The Frisco, Texas, native scored at least 10 kills 15 times in 26 matches, including four consecutive three-set contests. She posted 73 blocks, including a career-high seven at Oral Roberts.
Jacobs, also a sophomore, led the Mustangs and ranked sixth in the conference with 3.39 kills per set. She reached double-figures in 22 of 26 matches, including 10 straight to start the season. The New Braunfels, Texas, native scored a career-high 19 kills against Tulsa, and finished with 18 in four sets at ECU. She had 30 blocks, leading SMU with 347 points scored. Jacobs also had 39 digs and five assists.
The Mustangs won The American west division with an 11-5 record in league play, 7-3 against teams in the west. All three division losses came in five sets, including two on the road. SMU's season includes wins against TCU and a Dayton team that was receiving top-25 votes at the time of the match.
SMU is the No. 2 seed in the American Athletic Conference Championship, playing in the semifinals Saturday at 1 p.m. ET/12 p.m. CT. The Mustangs will play the winner between No. 3-seed UCF and No. 6-seed Tulsa. The UCF-Tulsa match is Friday at 3:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. CT.
