NEW ORLEANS (SMU) – Lauren Chappell had a big day for the Mustangs climbing 30 spots on the leaderboard at the 2019 Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Golf Championships. Chappell finished the second round shooting 2-over improving from her 6-over first day performance.

"Lauren was focused all day," said head coach Jeanne Sutherland. "Going into today she decided to stay in the moment and did a great job at it."

On a rainy and windy day on the course, SMU sit at 16th place with 40-over par heading into the final day.

Faith Summers also made her way up the board, moving 25 spots, tied with teammate Chappell with a share of 39. Brigitte Dunne came into the second round at 3-over par and now sits in a tie for 54.th after carding a 79. Ana Paula Ramirez and Kennedy Pedigo both finished the second round hitting eight over.

Mustangs are paired against conference foe Tulane along with UC Davis for the final round of the tournament starting at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
