COLLEGE STATION, Texas (SMU) – No. 24 Texas A&M swept SMU 7-0 in a non-conference women's tennis match at the Mitchell Tennis Center on Wednesday afternoon.
This is the fourth ranked opponent the Mustangs have faced this year. This is also the first time all season SMU has been shut out.
Senior
Anzhelika Shapovalova, playing at No. 1 singles for the first time this season, battled against No. 86 Jayci Goldsmith to force a second-set tiebreak, but ultimately fell 7-5, 7-6 (3). Senior
Vivienne Kulicke, ranked No. 117 in singles, also fought to the end at No. 3 singles, but lost to Tatiana Makarova 6-4, 7-6 (4).

Ana Perez-Lopez were trailing just 5-4 to the 52nd-ranked duo of Renee McBryde and Katya Townsend when the Aggies clinched the doubles point and play was halted.
SMU has lost four matches in a row and drops to 4-7 on the season while Texas A&M won its fourth straight match to improve to 12-1 on the year.
The Mustangs are back in action on March 9 when they play at Houston at 11 a.m.
