DALLAS, Texas (SMU) - In a Senior Day showdown held at the Dallas Equestrian Center, the No. 3 SMU Mustangs will host the No. 1 Auburn Tigers this Saturday (March 2) at 10 a.m. While two of the Top Three teams in the nation kick off competition at 10 a.m., Senior Day recognition will be held at 9:00 a.m.

    There will be a food truck on location, a T-Shirt toss and audience games at the half to add spice to the Senior Day celebrations. Admission is free, and live scoring can be located at https://bit.ly/2OiESXH

    The Tigers are the reigning NCEA National Champions, while SMU holds the 2018 UEC Championship title. This Saturday marks the eighth meeting of the two schools.

    Auburn is currently 10-0 (4-0 SEC), while the Mustangs' record stands at 7-2 (3-0 UEC). The two teams are the only Division I programs in the NCEA with a perfect conference record, and both sit atop their respective conference standings.

    Leading up to the meet, SMU has been hot on Auburn's trails all season, ranking No. 2 for consecutive weeks and matching the Tigers by going undefeated in the fall. SMU remains perfect at home, as they push forward in pursuit of dethroning undefeated Auburn. 

    The Mustangs have clinched 20 conference honors, including UEC Rider of the Week accolades, as well as two UEC Rider of the Month awards, to go along with a Horse of the Month nod from the NCEA. Riders for the Red & Blue have also earned 24 Most Outstanding Player (MOP) honors on the season. Vivian Yowan, with four Hunter Seat MOPs (12 total in her collegiate career), is second for All-Time MOPs in school history, and Holly Lansidel, who has also earned four MOP awards this year, has been crowned MOP for three consecutive weeks in her event.

    There are four undefeated individual riders, as well as the winningest rider in program history, team captain Nora Gray, on the current roster, too.
   
   SMU is led by the team's Equitation Over Fences squad, who has garnered five event wins, so far.

    Although this Saturday is the Mustangs' final home meet of 2018-19, the season continues at No. 8 TCU (March 9), before the Mustangs travel to defend their UEC Championship crown (March 22-23) and compete at NCEA Nationals (April 16-20).

MOP MAGIC 
SMU riders have represented the team in Most Outstanding Player selections in every meet this season. The Mustangs have had multiple MOP award winners in all but two meets. Mustangs earned four MOPs against Fresno State, DSU and UC Davis, three over TCU, two facing South Carolina, Texas A&M and OSU, and one each in meets versus Georgia and Sweet Briar College.
Holly Lansidel and Vivian Yowan have four MOPs apiece, while Ashley Mauney has three and Nora Gray and Devin Seek each have a pair of MOP honors.
