INDIANAPOLIS (SMU) – Aedan Lewis and
Simon Golczyk led the Mustangs on night three of the American Athletic Conference Championships. The four-day event is being held at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis.
The 100-yard breaststroke saw Lewis post an NCAA B Standard and career best of 53.96 to place fourth overall. He is now fifth on SMU's all-time top performer list.
Reid Anderson was the second Mustang in the final, posting a season-best 55.51 for seventh.
Freshman
Connor Dalbo won the event's Consolation Final besting his own pervious mark with a time of 55.56. Career marks were also turned in by
Brayden Rudd (55.67) and
Kianu Kitching (55.79) for 10th and 11th, respectively.
Golczyk was SMU's top finisher in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing fourth and covering the distance in a season-best 47.78.
Garrett Carson was the Consols champion, besting his previous season mark with a 48.95.
Duncan Brookover (11th), Anderson (13th) and
Trey Kilbride (15th) also scored in the B Final.
The 100-yard backstroke featured three Mustangs in the A Final with
Matan Segal leading the way with a career-best 48.46 for fifth place.
Trey Kilbride also turned in a career performance of 48.69 for sixth, and
Ralph Koo topped his season-best time for an eighth place finish at 49.19.
In the event's B Final,
Duncan Brookover placed 10th and
Stephen Cheng finished 11th.
Carson Klein capped his conference career in the 200-yard freestyle on a high note, as he was fifth and set a personal best standard of 1:37.18. Nutter (1:37.78, career best) led a trio of Mustangs in the Consols, finishing 10th, while
Lucas Schenke (11th) and
Jesse Washington (16th) also scored.
In the 400-yard individual medley,
Ridge Livermore placed 10th.
The 400-yard medley relay team of Segal, Lewis, Golczyk and Koo combined for a season-best time of 3:13.43 for third.
The Mustangs are fourth in the team standings, while Cincinnati (649) leads the field. ECU (555) is second and Connecticut (444) third.
Saturday marks the final night of the four-day Championships and features the 1,650 freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly, platform and the 400-yard freestyle relay. Visit The American's
