Austin, Texas (SMU) – Johanna Holloway capped off a successful freshman campaign with a 10th place finish on platform on the final day of the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin, Texas.
Holloway, who posted Zone qualifying scores in all three events this season, closed competition in the platform final. Preliminary action saw Holloway register a career-best 272.85, to secure her spot in the final. With scores carrying over, the freshman finished with a total score of 509.35, good for 10th place. The finish was the highest for a Mustang at NCAA Zones since 2010.
Holloway also competed on 3 meter at the Championships, placing 28th with 276.65 points.
In addition to qualifying for the Zone Championships, Holloway was an all-conference selection on platform with a second place finish.
Katie Crown, who advanced to 1-meter finals, highlighted night two of the event. With the finals appearance, she became the first Mustang since Audra Egenolf in 2010 to advance to a final at Zone Championships. Crown finished 12th in prelims, registering a 278.20, to advance as part of the top 18.
The sophomore finished the event 17th overall at 536.20, her highest placement at an NCAA Zones event. As a freshman in 2018, Crown placed 19th in 1-meter prelims.
On 3 meter, Crown led the Mustangs and finished 22nd with a career-best 288.90.
Crown was the 1-meter champion at the American Athletic Conference Championships, setting the meet record in the event.
Sophomore Taylor Ohlhauser made her first trip NCAA Zones, finishing 31st on 1 meter and 50th on 3 meter.
This was the first year since 2010 that the Mustangs qualified multiple divers for the Championships.
