DENTON, Texas (SMU) -- SMU Women's Tennis ended the regular season with a 6-1 road win over North Texas on Thursday from UNT's Waranch Tennis Center.
 
The Mustangs began the match by pulling out a narrow victory in doubles. Karina Traxler and Tiffany Hollebeck were matched against the 44th-ranked doubles paring and fell 6-4. After Avery Aude and Vivienne Kulicke won 6-3 on No. 3 the point came down to Sarai Monarrez Yesaki and Ana Perez-Lopez on No. 2. After the match went all square at five, the duo won the next two games to clinch an early lead for SMU.
 
In singles, the Mustangs began play by winning each of the first six sets.  No. 118 Kulicke wasted no time cruising to a 6-1, 6-2 win on the top line. Kulicke is a perfect 2-0 from line one this season. Monarrez won point number three with a 6-2, 6-3 victory on No. 4. Perez-Lopez clinched the Mustangs' first road win of the season as the senior finished off her 6-4, 6-3 win, her 10th dual victory of the season..
 
Avery Aude made her return to singles action and captured a 6-3, 6-4 win. Hollebeck went to a tiebreaker in her second set, pulling out the win 8-6.
 
The lone Mean Green point came on court two as No. 121 Tamuna Kutubidze topped Traxler in a three-setter, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.
 
Next up, the Mustang travel to Orlando for the American Conference Tennis Championships.
